Our mission is to ensure that all public library materials and programs targeting children under the age of 18 are age and content appropriate.
Our mission is to ensure that all public library materials and programs targeting children under the age of 18 are age and content appropriate.
We desire to hold our Ida Rupp Public Library (IRPL) Board of Trustees and staff accountable to keep children safe from sexually explicit content; and requiring parental consent to attend programs related to sexual content, or check-out explicit materials. We are asking community members to vote “no” on the Library Levy Renewal with full knowledge and transparency on the policies of the Ida Rupp Public Library and its branches. The Library has dismissed concerns of patrons, tax-payers, and parents of our community repeatedly. A library card for a child should not lead to a future porn addict nor identity confusion without parental consent. Parental consent should be required for exposure to sexually explicit content, materials, and/or programs. Our library should not be associated with the American Library Association (ALA) if they believe sexually explicit books and materials are acceptable for minors.
